Who We Are

We are a family run business where Richard has 30 years experience in the copier and major accounts market place. He is well known and respected in the industry and was major accounts director at Copymore in the 1980 and 90`s. Since then he has run his own company where his understanding of clients’ hardware needs and solution selling has established a large and impressive client base. His enthusiasm and drive have created a secure and growing company even in these business challenging times. With our Company Secretary Chris Maylin (who is also the company accountant at WKH in Letchworth Garden City), they have established a stable planned business, working to our strengths and outsourcing to obtain the best fit for the company in the likes of internal IT support and HR.

One of Richard’s best moves was to employ, in 1999, our General Manager Peter Munroe. Peter runs all the back office of TDO and from his service base in the car industry with Volvo, he has transfered many of those customer facing and focused skills into our industry. He has established a strong personable relationship with the manufacturers that continues to grow with respect and advantages that we are able to pass on to our clients.

We appoint customer relations manager like Lynsey McIntosh to specific clients so they always have the same person to speak too and continuity of feedback. No call centres and being made to feel a small fish in a big pond, we believe in good old fashioned voice to voice contact on business critical communication where performance is rated on timed response and end user confidence. Likewise with Ricoh we have direct contact so we jump the queue for our clients and escalate service to the correct levels using our inside knowledge of Ricohs systems. They provide knowledgeable continuity for clients in their communications with us when placing service calls, ordering parts and consumables and enquiring about latest products. The feedback from our clients is their appreciation of the updating and speed of our response, our determination to ensure all their requests are met and the personal relationship that is built for a long and successful mutually symbiotic relationship to develop. Very rarely do we loose clients and some like Dow Jones have been clients for over ten years.

Lynsey organises all the leasing approvals and documentation as well as the post sales implementation of installation networking, site surveys and customer progress updates, keeping you informed as to dates and sequence of delivery. Having had four years experience of this role in Ricoh, arranging this for all dealers and direct sales, her knowledge and contacts has been an invaluable development in the smooth post sales running of the company.

Debbie Kirby came to TDO with years of management experience at a leading healthcare company in the regulatory affairs area, she is ideally placed to develop the company’s interface with the customer and prospects. She manages the new website, implements employment and company HR contracts, manages exhibitions and events, develops marketing strategies and keeps Richard in control!

Julian Knight, our Business Development Manager joined TDO after 17 years with BOC, the largest provider of industrial, medical and special gases in the UK and Ireland, more recently as their Sales and Service Team Manager.  Julian assists Richard in driving the sales of the company forward at all levels.

We welcome feedback and clients advice on how to improve our service and can always provide sales and service references and top level IT advice.

Our slogan is “We make you look good on paper”, as people are often unaware of the high colour graphic quality of our products that enable them to produce in-house marketing and company material that previously then could only aspire to achieve out-of-house.

We show you how to get the maximum return from your hardware investment and use all of the latest additional features to your benefit.

Major Accounts / Government

Together with the Ricoh Group, we are able to offer major Corporate and Government clients, competitive tender pricing, to rival all the main manufacturers. We are able to not only supply, install and network digital office equipment and solutions nationwide, but globally. Our strength is in our communication.

With over 1,500 engineers nationwide, we offer, via Ricoh, superb support and consumable supply, with local friendly, knowledgeable, client fronted, first line service and sales support.

Why sit in a call centre queue when you can talk to you own dedicated service co-ordinator, whose role is to keep you informed and up-to-date. A sales team that is proactive and knowledgeable and your account managed so that you don’t feel abandoned post-sale.

Service
We offer a bespoke service contract for each of our clients. Service has been developed with you in mind, regular feedback, proactive response, ‘e-service’, contract flexibility and ongoing account review to ensure you get the maximum return and benefits from your investment in your hardware.
Finance
We offer leasing to our clients for all hardware and software products, including capital and operating leases, flexible upgrade of existing equipment, settlement of other suppliers’ old leases, new cheaper rates and flexible terms. This enables TDO to offer the best available terms of finance for your new hardware. Service included contracts based on total volume usage and refresh balance of term agreements are also available.
Consultancy

We have supplied consultancy services to Hertfordshire County Council, North Herts District Council and many corporate bodies. Where an impartial analysis (not supply and service), is required we have all the skill sets available to empower your decision making with the ‘inside line’ advice.

Running costs are often 80% more than hardware costs, yet clients spend 80% of their time selecting, negotiating and pushing down the hardware costs only to be ‘caught’ by unfavourable service terms and conditions. For example, whoever asks or wants to know about what happens at the term of the agreement? Here hidden costs often are prohibitive to make a clean break wheras retention of an upgraded machine with life left in it and relocated to a less use location, can save real cash and provide ongoing value to your organisation.

Equipment and consumables often come out of separate budgets. The true cost of ownership is never appreciated as different people control those budgets. That what the like of HP rely on as by not offering clear meter readins of usage it is difficult for the customer to understand the real cost per page. We open this up to show how you can benefit from better more advanced hardware without increasing your total running costs by reducing and managing your service and consumable costs. Often new client report back that the copy/print charge sytem we offer, that they are familiar with on thier copiers when applied to their printers reduces admin time by 30%. They also report reduced levels of cash tied up stocking multiple cartridges and expensive call out charges for engineers to fix on an hourly basis all their fleet of vaious printers stock. In a recent project, £2m was being spent on Laser and Inkjet Printer cartridges. 30% was saved, whilst financing a huge upgrade of outdated equipment. Users were consulted and were impressed with the improved facilities giving the management respect from users that thier views were being sought. The client saw major benefits in many areas and the Senior Managers were ‘delighted with the tick all the boxes” outcome of the project.

By indicating strategic solutions and finance options, we sit on the same side of the table as our clients, empowering them to make the right decisions and maintain the best possible usability of their existing equipment and software, as well as future technology.

Consistent, friendly personal service.

UK Facility Manager, Dow Jones
